Uprooting Trafficking exists to confront the realities of human trafficking through awareness, healing, and action.
This initiative was created to help everyday people understand what trafficking really is — and how it often hides in plain sight — while equipping them with clear, compassionate ways to respond. Whether you're a concerned parent, educator, advocate, or community member, you have a role to play. It doesn’t have to be big. But it does have to start.
Why It Matters
Human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar global industry that preys on vulnerability and thrives in silence. It affects every kind of community - including our own. In Canada and around the world, survivors are often overlooked or misunderstood, and prevention efforts fall short without clear information, trauma-aware support, and survivor-informed action.
Uprooting Trafficking is here to help change that. By creating accessible, thoughtful spaces for learning and dialogue, we aim to unearth the myths, systems, and assumptions that allow trafficking to persist — and to offer pathways toward a more just and healed world.

Each evening features frontline voices, survivor leaders, and subject matter experts who will offer insight, share lived experience, and leave you with meaningful steps forward. This is not just about awareness — it’s about movement, community, and sustained change.
Why "Uprooting"?
We chose the name Uprooting Trafficking intentionally. Ending human trafficking requires more than surface-level solutions. It means digging deeper — into culture, community, and our own assumptions — and addressing the root causes that make exploitation possible. The logo’s imagery reflects growth, grounding, and collective action. We believe healing and justice grow best when planted in truth.

This initiative is endorsed by The Women’s Institute in partnership with Uprooting Trafficking and supported by a network of practitioners, survivors, advocates, and community-based leaders. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed principles and guided by a commitment to dignity, clarity, and collaboration.
